When it comes to footwear I’m a bit of an espadrille-aholic. I currently own 5 pairs of espadrilles which, considering I have approximately, another 12 pairs of shoes not including heels, I think that’s a lot. With summer slowly creeping up, I want to grow my espadrille collection to at least another 3 pairs. Stick around to find where to buy espadrilles and see what’s in my espadrille collection.
Where To Buy Espadrilles?
First things first, it’s important to know that most of the espadrilles in my collection are designer espadrilles thus some are rather expensive. For people looking to buy espadrilles on a budget, the ones I’ve bought may excel your price range. (That’s not me being big-headed about buying designer shoes, it’s simply a fact that they’re expensive.) Check out high street stores such as my favourites: New Look, H&M and Zara to buy cheap espadrilles for your upcoming holidays and so on.
Tip: Not every high street store will have a full range of espadrilles in stock throughout the year. It’s best to keep checking the site regularly to find yourself a bargain pair. As they’re seen more as a spring or summer shoe, go on an hunt around April-July to buy espadrilles.
My First Pair: Chanel Espadrilles
Back in 2016, I was lucky enough to go to Dubai with my boyfriend. We spent our days lounging around the pool, sight-seeing (the Burj Khalifa) and of course, shopping in the amazing malls. That’s where I bought my first pair of espadrilles: Chanel espadrilles in grey and black. I never thought I’d be able to afford designer shoes and let’s be real, I probably should save my money for a house and all the expensive things you need when you grow up, but still. I was in love and I felt that I had to buy them.
Baby Pink for Pair Number 2
The second pair I bought was from Bicester Village, an outlet shopping centre. I went on the way back from a weekend in Milton Keynes with Tyler and his family. I didn’t really expect to buy anything but, of course, my materialistic-self wanted some baby pink Kenzo espadrilles. There was an offer across the entire range of Kenzo products so I didn’t pay the full price yet they were still “pricey”.
I ended up buying them a size down and with the next pair of Kenzo’s I bought, I had to do the same. I’m annoyingly in between sizes 4 and 5. I normally go for a size 5 but they were practically falling off my feet. The 4’s felt a lot tighter but were ok. I thought Kenzo sizes might be slightly bigger than others, yet in sweatshirts, I am a size small and had to buy a medium from Kenzo. I don’t like sweaters or jumpers being too tight so maybe the size was only wrong due to my personal preference? Still, something to consider if you’re planning on shopping online at Kenzo.
Pair Number 3: The Biggest Bargain Ever
The third pair was my Chloé espadrilles in leopard print. I got them from an online site, YOOX. I can’t remember how I even came across them but out of the lot, I think they’re my favourite. I only shop in the YOOX “sale” section because they stock lots of expensive designers who find it okay to charge £500-£600 for a pair of shoes. In fact, I only ever shop in the sale no matter what site I’m on. No one likes paying more than they need to and I certainly cannot justify paying the full price for designer clothing. I think it’s a waste of money.
Don’t get me wrong, the pair I got were still expensive – after all, they are from Chloé. But, from looking around for promotional codes and discounts for ages I was able to get them for around £80. Like WTF.
The Brightest Pair to Date
I wanted to buy a bright pair of shoes and kept looking at the bright orange and bring pink Kenzo espadrilles for months and months. I ended up coming across this wacky yellow pair from Maje. I’d never heard of the brand before. I looked all over the site to see what other stuff they did and wow, some of it is so expensive. Me being me I went to the sale straight away and found these “FELINA espadrilles” – whatever that means – in bright yellow with black stripes and the odd bit of red. They’re beaut.
Espadrilles Number 5
My fifth, most recent pair was a birthday present from my dad. No, my dad didn’t pick these out for me – he finds it hard picking clothing and footwear for himself, never mind me. I chose them, again from the sale section and he paid. This time I wanted to go for a basic pair of espadrilles thinking black would go with most, if not all of my outfits.
This pair is also from Kenzo. I love all of Kenzo’s clothing and footwear no matter how wacky it is. In fact the wackier, the better. Just like my baby pink pair, I had to go a size down and they fit nicely. I think with espadrilles in general, because I don’t wear any socks with them, they need to be a bit tighter.
