Note: Lots of the products listed below aren’t available online anymore, though PLT stock similar products instead.
I have recently undergone a massive clear out of my wardrobe and realised that most of the clothes I’ve bought over time have been from PrettyLittleThing aka PLT. Compared to similar clothing stores, the quality has always been great and it’s super affordable too. This blog post will take you through some of the things I own from PrettyLittleThing.
Cropped PLT t-shirts
I bought two of these t-shirts, one in black and one in white. I wanted to buy something cropped as I recently threw out all of my old cropped t-shirts for being a bit too cropped. I know that sounds stupid but still. Anyway, these t-shirts are great and pretty cheap costing £8.00 each.
Black High-Waisted Tie Trousers
I’ve seen quite a lot of people wearing these trousers and I can see why. They are super comfy, great for dressing up and dressing down as well as being affordable. I’ve bought mine for work but wear them out and about every now and again. The only thing is the elastic waistband has gotten caught and the stitching is beginning to come undone.
Leather-Look & Vinyl Trousers
Even more so than the above, these leather-look/vinyl trousers have become a swooping trend across the UK. I decided to buy a pair in black and khaki and then another in an extra glossy black finish which I think is the vinyl style. I wouldn’t say they are particularly comfy and because I have bad knees – you’ll find more out later – I have to be careful of wearing anything too tightly fitted over them. They weren’t too badly priced, around £10.00 a pair but considering the black pair has started coming open right on my bum – what a great look – I definitely won’t be buying any more in this material or from PrettyLittleThing.
I have bought quite a few dresses from PLT and I think it is definitely my go-to dress shop. They do really flattering styles that are affordable, good quality and actually fit. Plus if they don’t, returning them is super easy which is always a bonus. Unfortunately, I ordered most of these dresses when I didn’t have a PLT account so I can’t actually show you a backup of all of these including prices etc. However, for the most recent dress I bought, see below.
Ruched Slinky Bodycon Skirts
I love bodycon dresses and skirts, especially when they’re in a slinky material. When you’ve shaved your legs and apply body butter (my favourite being the honeycomb body butter from Treacle Moon), it feels amazing on the skin. I bought two of these ruched slinky bodycon skirts, of course, one in black and the other in a taupe/camel colour. They’re super comfy, stretchy whilst being tight and aren’t see-through. Hallelujah!
Grey Bandeau Boob Skirt
Another skirt I’ve recently bought from PLT is a faux grey skirt. It has a bit at the top of the skirt that outlines the underneath of your boobs. Though I tucked that in because I found when I walked it could move slightly and make them look an odd shape – lol. I think I bought this in the sale at around £8.00.
Black Puffa Jacket
PLT White Puffa Jacket
I really wanted a white coat and although I don’t love the one I’ve bought from PLT, it’s okay. At first, I liked the “pretty little thing” text all over the coat, however, the more I look at it the more I find it almost cheap and trashy looking – even though it wasn’t that cheap! It cost me £30.00 on sale, yet it was supposed to be £60.00. Anyway, I’m thinking of buying some white “tape” (I know that’s not what it’s called but don’t know the name of the material), to go on top of the black. Thankfully my mum is great at sewing so it shouldn’t go too bad.
Black Military Jacket
This is perhaps one of my most favourite jackets ever. It’s really comfy and flattering on the waistline which is always a bonus. It’s not the warmest of coats but it’s not really meant to be either. The only downfall I’d say is it collects fluff. Though, thankfully I have one of those sticky rolly things that removes it all.
Things I’ve Never Bought And Why
I cannot bring myself to buy jeans online. I have quite thin calves and annoying big thighs which I struggle to find sizes for. I often opt for Topshop jeans as they differ the waist and length sizes so that I can get a pair that is practically perfect for my body shape. Hell yes to Topshop for doing that!
I never find any shoes that I like and that I would class as affordable. Personally, £25+ for a pair of heels that won’t be comfy isn’t justifiable to me. I prefer to try my shoes on (with socks obviously) to get a feel for them as I refuse to wear uncomfortable heels on all the nights out I don’t go on – lol.
Also, I have bad knees due to my back locking in weird positions. This basically throws out the position of my knees causing pain when I put lots of pressure on them and sometimes simply from walking. I attend physio for this to help realign my back but as a result, I cannot wear heels too often and when I do, they can’t be too tall or have limited padding. I find that being able to tell if the heel is suitable or not, is pretty hard from a picture.
I buy most of my bags from either H&M or Zara because I feel they’re a little quirkier and just as cheap. There are some nice bags on PrettyLittleThing but they’re just quite basic and I prefer buying accessories that are more personal to me and my style.
I only buy sunglasses or any glasses for that matter in person. I have a weird face shape so find that buying sunnies online can be annoying as they never look right. Having said that, I have ordered 2 great pairs from TK Maxx before yet that was only because they were designer (yet extremely cheap) so worth the risk – plus I would go through the hassle of sending them back if I really needed to, though I try and avoid doing this.
