Please Note: This is a guest post written by Audrey from With Love, a beauty and lifestyle blog. Here are her makeup products she can’t live without.
One of my favourite things to do is to go to a drugstore or Sephora and look at all of the new makeup lining the shelves. It’s so exciting to see all of the products companies are coming out with and thinking up. Metallic lipsticks, beauty sponges, rainbow highlighters, it’s all so much fun to play with. However, as much as walking up to the cashier at Sephora to pay for new makeup makes me giddy, there are some products that I will stand by until the end of time. These products are the ones I can’t live without and will buy over and over again.
On days when nothing seems to be going right, it’s nice to have those dependable beauty products. Keep reading to find out what mine are!
Coty Airspun Loose Powder
A few years ago I found out about the Coty Airspun powder from Tati over on Youtube and haven’t looked back since. I also haven’t shut up about it since (sorry not sorry). Tati is OG beauty guru, so if it’s Tati approved, you know it must be good. It’s only $6 and can be found at your local drugstore or on Amazon. It’s so finely milled that it just has this ability to melt all of your makeup together to create a flawless finish. This powder is also perfect for baking or to through in your purse for touch-ups throughout the day. I’ve never tried the Laura Mercier setting powder (never felt the need to) but the Coty Airspun powder is said to be a dupe for that product.
I’ve tried other loose powders, in fact, I’m working my way through a Maybelline one right now, but none of them quite compare. The Rimmel stay matte powder is nice, but it’s not as easy to bake with. You also get far less product! I’ve also tried the e.l.f. HD Setting powder and it doesn’t eliminate shine nearly as well. In fact, that one has flecks of glitter in it. That’s a big no for girls with oily skin!
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
In addition to having oily skin, I’m also very pale. A lot of bronzers are too orange or dark for my skin tone, but the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer is perfect. It’s light but still adds some warmth back into my skin after putting foundation and concealer on. As the name suggests, it’s buttery smooth which makes for a flawless application. Bonus, it smells like coconuts and sunscreen! It does break apart on my skin as the day goes by but I’m chalking that up to oily skin. So many people rave about this bronzer and haven’t mentioned that issue.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I will never forget shopping in Ulta with my best friend and noticing how long her lashes were. I asked her what mascara she was using and she told me it was the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. I bought and that day and have since but many more tubes. The formula is the perfect balance between length and volume which is what I look for in a good mascara. It also doesn’t transfer to my eyelids or smudge easy. All good things! I do have one question about this mascara though; what is the difference between the shades Blackest Black and Very Black?
Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 08
I saw a picture of this lipstick on Pinterest one day and knew I had to have it. I am a lipstick junkie, so the fact that I have a favourite out of the many I own is saying something. The formula (I know I know, I keep rambling on about the product’s formula) is so lovely. It’s smooth, comfortable, and doesn’t make your lips feel like the Sahara Desert.
The shade 08 is a beautiful mauve colour with pink undertones. It goes with any makeup look you do, which is why I love it so much. If I don’t know what lipstick to wear, I usually end up throwing this one on. It’s just so universal. It’s also one of those lipsticks that will look good on any skin tone.
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
Featured in my best makeup of 2017 post, the Smashbox Photo Finish primer really is as amazing as everyone says it is. The silicone primer fills in pores and creates a flawless base for your foundation. I never thought silicone primers were all that great, but there’s something about this one that I really enjoy. It’s oil-free and lightweight, which helps it blend into the skin effortlessly. There are also vitamins A, E and peptides to protect your skin from the environment. This product is a bit pricey, but it will last a while so I think it’s 100% worth the money.
So there you have it! The five pieces of makeup I can depend on to always be there for me. I will say though if these products ever get discontinued, I’m screwed!
